ABOUT US Soroban Education Centre was co-founded by Ms Phyilly Wong and Ms Amanda Yen Chiu Jung. We have been providing abacus enrichment classes for primary school children since 1992. Our centre is registered and recognised by the Ministry of Education, and we have been invited by famous schools to conduct abacus lessons for both the students as well as their teachers. We have a pool of dedicated and experienced instructors who are highly trained in this area and were awarded the most outstanding teaching recognition by the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, the Taiwan Calculation Association, the Lions International and the Olympic Mathematics Association. Soroban Education Centre is also proud to be the first and only in the abacus arena to break into the Guinness Book of World Record in 1998 and 2005 for creating the world's longest abacus. Many children exercised their prowess simultaneously on the world's longest abacus during the witnessing ceremony attended by the students, public and the media. Our enthusiasm and fascination with abacus also spurred us into creating many other unique hand-made abacuses that have become collector items attracting the interest and attention from various media and abacus bodies all over the world. To date, there are 1000 of these unique abacuses in our museum. Another milestone was the adoption of our teaching method by the distinguished Thai Royal King's School since 1997, which is currently still using our method. |
