About Soroban Education Centre
Soroban Education Centre was co-founded by Ms. Phyilly Wong and Ms. Amanda Yen Chiu Jung. We have been providing abacus enrichment programme for primary school children since 1992. Our centre is registered and recognized by the Ministry of Education, and we have been invited by famous schools like: Raffles Girls' Primary School, St. Nicholas Girls School, Catholic High School, Singapore Chinese Girl's school etc. to conduct fingers arithmetic & abacus lessons for both the students as well as their teachers.
Ms. Phyilly Wong
Ms Phyilly Wong received training in handling children at National Institute of Education (Singapore) in 1988 & University of Melbourne in 1990. She believes that learning for children has to be cheerful and enjoyable.
The Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, the Olympic Mathematics Association and Association of Professional Abacus Education awarded her the most outstanding teaching recognition. Phyilly is proud to be the first and only one in the abacus arena to get into The Guinness Book of World Record in 1999 & 2005 for creating the world’s longest abacus.

Ms. Amanda Yen
Ms Amanda Yen is the chief trainer who was trained in Taiwan and has been teaching for more than 19 years. She is responsible for the development of the syllabus cum training our potential pupils for international competition.
Amanda has appeared on a TV program, whereby the show host Ms Qian Yi Fong challenged her calculation ability with an electronic calculator. She produced the answer at a speed and accuracy that could put a calculator to shame.
In addition, the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce, Taiwan Calculation Association, Lions International and Association of Professional Abacus Education awarded her the most outstanding teaching recognition. Another milestone was the adoption of our teaching method by the distinguished Royal King's School since 1997, which is currently still using our method.

We are proud to be the first and only in the abacus arena to break into the Guinness Book of World Record in 1998 and 2005 for creating the world's longest abacus. Our enthusiasm and fascination with abacus also spurred us into creating many other unique hand-made abacuses that have become collector items attracting the interest and attention from various media and abacus bodies all over the world. To date, there are about thousand of these unique abacuses in our museum.
